LIBRARY USE

Patron Conduct

To keep the library a pleasant place for all and a suitable environment for quiet study and reading the following rules will be enforced:

 Emergency Closings

Weather conditions: The library will close for snow days when a snow day has been declared by the Canisteo-Greenwood School District. Closing the library when the schools are closed for reasons other than hazardous road conditions will be left to the discretion of the library manager and the board president. In the event of a snow emergency during library hours, the library manager and the board president will determine whether or not to close the library. If a decision is made to close a notice will be posted on the front door and the local radio station will be notified to make such an announcement.

Electrical failures: If an electrical failure occurs there is a flashlight at the main desk. The staff should assist all patrons in exiting the building and notify the board president. If the electrical failure is localized within the library, proper action will be taken by the board president to seek repair. If failure occurs at night the library will close and notice will be posted on the front door.

Fire Emergencies: In the event of a fire, the fire department will be called. All patrons will be assisted from the building. Fire extinguishers are located in the non-fiction room and by the bathroom door. The staff should also exit the building and the board president should be notified.

Health and Accident emergencies: A first aid kit is located at the front desk. For any assistance that requires more than a first aid kit, the emergency number will be called. An injured or unconscious person should not be moved until an ambulance arrives. The board president will be notified of any accidents or health related incidents that occur in the library.

Security situations: If a library patron refuses to comply with library rules they will be asked to leave the premises. If the patron refuses the request or becomes rowdy or belligerent, the library manager or staff will notify the police department and the board president. If a patron is caught damaging library property, full restitution will be required. Law enforcement authorities will be notified in extreme circumstances.

 Handicapped Access

The Wimodaughsian Free Library adheres to the spirit of the Americans with Disabilities Act and makes its facilities and resources available to patrons with disabilities.

Smoking

Smoking is prohibited by law in any portion of the library.
